Industrial & consumer

Companies that make and move things.

Industrial chemistry under a 20-year US licence, facility services, aluminium systems to Florida building code, household and personal care, specialty coffee — the unglamorous half of the platform, and the half that generates cash.

Why this sits first, not last

The founding families are manufacturers.

Insignia's consortium did not make its money in finance. It made it in chemicals, distribution, construction and consumer goods — mostly in Colombia, increasingly in the United States.

That is why the industrial book is not a diversification play bolted onto a wealth management practice. It is the original business, and it is the reason the office can read an operating company's numbers faster than it can read a pitch deck.

A note on links

Two company websites referenced in Insignia's older material (Inwindoors and Produczion Group) no longer resolve. We have kept the companies listed and flagged the dead links rather than removing them silently — current trading status should be confirmed with the office.

What we look for

Boring, cash-generative, well run.

The screen for an operating company is narrower than for a development: is there real revenue from real customers; does the management team want to stay; is the product defensible on service or licence rather than only on price; and can the business be pushed into a second market — usually the United States — without breaking.

Sparcol is the template. A two-decade licence from a US manufacturer, 200-plus products, an equipped laboratory and an integrated management system is not exciting. It is durable.

Questions

Ownership and holding periods.

Are these portfolio companies or wholly owned?
It varies. In industrial and consumer, Insignia typically holds a significant minority alongside founders who continue to run the business. Where the consortium built the company itself, the position is larger.
Why industrial rather than something with better multiples?
Because it is what the founding families actually do. Industrial chemistry, facility services and consumer goods generate cash, employ people and are legible to the people screening them — which is worth more to a family office than a headline multiple.
Two of the company websites do not load. Are they still trading?
Trading status for individual holdings should be confirmed with the office before it is relied on. We have deliberately flagged links that no longer resolve rather than quietly removing them.
Does Insignia acquire operating companies outright?
Occasionally, where the sector is one the consortium operates in and there is an existing management team worth backing. It is not a buy-and-flip strategy; the holding periods are long.

Next step

Operating companies, not slide decks.

If you run a business in these sectors and want a United States channel — or a partner who has built one — that is a short conversation.
