Contemporary art
Art as an asset, and a community.
A gallery position in Miami and an advisory practice for families who want art on the balance sheet — with provenance, insurance and an exit — not only on the wall.
The gallery
+ M.A.S + Miami Art Society
Miami Art Society was founded in 2019 by curator JPS Williams to challenge the norms of traditional gallery structure and art dealing — programming that is original rather than safe, in a space that matches its fine-art counterparts but feels closer to domestic than institutional.
Williams works alongside the artists rather than above them, breaking the customary separation between artist and gallerist and bringing each artist's individual vision and preference into the programme. The gallery exhibits local Miami artists and has shown at SCOPE New York.
Innovative, transparent, inclusive, local and varied is the stated brief — and, for a family office, a genuinely useful vantage point on a market that is otherwise very hard to see into.

Advisory
What we actually do for a collection.
Acquisition with a written thesis
Why this artist, at this point in a career, at this price — and what would have to be true for the work to hold value. If the answer is only that the family likes it, that is a fine reason to buy and a poor reason to call it an investment.
Provenance and documentation
Chain of ownership, condition reports, certificates and exhibition history, assembled and kept current. Provenance gaps are the single largest destroyer of value in a private collection.
Custody, insurance and carrying cost
Climate-controlled storage, transit, specialist fine-art cover and an honest annual carrying number — so the return is measured net of what holding it costs.
Liquidity and succession
Realistic routes to sale — auction, private sale, consignment — with realistic timelines. Estate and succession treatment is handled together with the legal mandate.
Disclosure
Insignia holds an interest in Miami Art Society. Where a family considers a work the gallery represents, that interest is disclosed in writing before any transaction.
From the programme

Artist attributions, titles, media and dates are to be supplied by the gallery. We have deliberately not invented credits for real artworks.
