Insignia was formed in 2016 by Latin American entrepreneurs who needed one office to hold the United States side of their affairs. Ten years on, it still runs on the same premise: the people screening the deal have signed for the same risk themselves.
Origin
It began as a shared problem, not a business plan.
A group of Latin American families — owners of construction firms, chemical manufacturers, distributors, developers — kept running into the same wall. Each had good counsel at home. None had a single team that could hold the whole picture once assets, children and residencies started crossing into the United States.
So in 2016 they pooled the cost of building one. Insignia Family Office, LLC was organised in Florida as a multi-family office: several unrelated families, one shared team, institutional-grade advice without any one family paying for a full in-house staff.
The investment platform grew out of the same room. When one family's development needed capital, or another's operating company needed a United States channel, the deal was already on the table — screened by people who understood the sector because they worked in it.

We invest where we operate
Insignia does not source deals in sectors it does not already work in. The five disciplines on the platform map to businesses its founding families own, run or broker. That is a constraint, and it is deliberate.

We coordinate, we do not displace
Your lawyer in Bogotá, your accountant in Guayaquil, your banker in São Paulo — they stay. Insignia's job is to be the office that talks to all of them and to the United States side, so the family is not the integration layer.

We say no early
Most opportunities that reach the screening table do not leave it. A family office that never declines is a distribution channel. The first call is as much about whether we are the right fit as whether you are.

We keep the regulated work regulated
Real estate is transacted through Insignia International Realty LLC, a licensed Florida brokerage with its own broker of record. Legal work is executed by admitted counsel. Insignia does not blur those lines.

Why Miami
The shortest distance between a Latin American family and the United States.
Miami is not a marketing choice. It is where the private banking, the immigration bar, the international brokerage and the Latin American business community are physically concentrated — and it is a two- to five-hour flight from most of the region's capitals.
Insignia's headquarters sits in Miami Beach. The second office is in Colombia, close to the operating companies and to the resort developments on the Caribbean coast. Between them the firm covers the two ends of almost every mandate it takes.
